News Round-Up: February 12, 2018
Here are some highlights from the past week’s news on family tax credit issues.
- Michigan Representative Darrin Camilleri (D) introduced legislation to expand the state’s Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) from 6 to 30 percent of the federal credit. (Monroe News)
- The Idaho House Tax Committee passed a tax-cut bill, which includes a nonrefundable Child Tax Credit worth $130 per child. The bill now heads to the House for a full vote. (The Spokesman Review)
- Seth DiStefano, policy outreach director for the West Virginia Center on Budget and Policy, encouraged the legislature to enact a state-level EITC to boost employment throughout the state. (Herald Dispatch)
- The Center on Budget and Policy Priorities (CBPP) called on state legislatures to adopt or expand state-level EITCs and strengthen minimum wages to build economic opportunity for all. (CBPP)
