Prepare Now for EITC Awareness Day
Friday, January 25, 2013, will be EITC Awareness Day. The IRS has developed a wide array of resources for state and local organizations, policymakers and the media to help draw attention to the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) in their communities. These resources include print, radio and TV PSAs, video and audio files, and social networking materials.
The National Community Tax Coalition is organizing a Congressional briefing in Washington, D.C. on the morning of January 24, 2013, the eve of EITC Awareness Day. The event will be co-sponsored by several national partners, including Tax Credits for Working Families, and its panel presentation will include remarks by TCWF’s Debbie Stein, an EITC recipient, a Volunteer Income Tax Assistance service provider, and Roxy Caines of the Center on Budget and Policy Priorities. The briefing will address the importance of both the federal EITC and state-level credits, and emphasize that working families need both federal and state EITCs to make ends meet. Further details about the briefing will be available shortly.
