Top Story: Utah Governor Gary Herbert (R) and the state legislature have agreed to repeal a recent tax overhaul, which included the creation of a state-level Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC), after public backlash over a sales tax increase included in the package. (The Salt Lake Tribune)
- The Georgia Budget & Policy Institute (GBPI) released a poll that found more than 80 percent of Georgians support enacting a state (GBPI)
- New York Governor Andrew Cuomo (D) released his FY2021 budget proposal, which includes a proposal to expand the Empire State Child Tax Credit to families with children between the ages 0 to 3. Currently, the credit is only available to families with children ages 4 to 16 years old. This expansion would benefit almost 400,000 New York families, according to the Governor’s office.
