What’s Next for the EITC:
Strengthening the Tax Code for Working Families
United States Capitol Visitor Center (SVC) 212-10
Thursday, February 7, 9:00-11:30 am
The Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) helps millions of lower-wage working Americans keep more of their income at tax time each year. The credit enjoys widespread bipartisan support for its effectiveness at both encouraging work and reducing poverty, and as such, has been expanded under every president since its enactment in 1975. Will the Trump administration follow suit?
Join TCWF and Prosperity Now on February 7 for a Capitol Hill policy briefing on what’s ahead for the EITC in 2019 – from the challenges posed by IRS budget cuts, to opportunities for Congress to expand the credit for workers without dependent children.
Event speakers include:
- Samuel Hammond, Director of Poverty and Welfare Policy, Niskanen Center
- Dr. Shatomi Luster-Edward, Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion Fellow, eXtension Foundation
- Elaine Maag, Senior Research Associate, Urban-Brookings Tax Policy Center
- David Newville, Director of Federal Policy, Prosperity Now
