Celebrate Reliable Tax Preparers on VITA Awareness Day
By Kate Skochdopole
On Tuesday, March 15, tax advocates from across the country will celebrate Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) and volunteer tax preparers for the work they do to help families file taxes correctly and receive the benefits they’ve earned.
VITA is an IRS-regulated free tax preparation program for low- and middle-income families. VITA tax preparers receive extensive training and are well-qualified to help families in their communities collect vital tax credits.
The VITA program not only offers these services free of charge, but boasts an accuracy rate higher than many paid tax preparers.
The Corporation for Enterprise Development (CFED) will hold a briefing on Capitol Hill on March 15 to celebrate VITA Awareness Day. You can register here to attend the event. Also, join the conversation on social media using #VITAWorks.
